The institution was first established in 1996 by Late Nava Kumar Roy with some eminent persons of Dumka. It runs under the supervision of’Santhal Parganas Education Society, Dumka’. The object ofthis institution is spreading education in order to be effective and fruitful, must be man making, that must bring about total and integrated development of the personality of the students. This can be achieved only when the students would be brought up in a congenial atmosphere. This academy aims at helping the students not only to receive the prevailing academic education but also to become active, self reliant and to build up their character in keeping with the national ideals of renunciation and service.

In the lower classes the following subjects are taught: English, Hindi, Maths, General Science, Social Studies, General Knowledge, Sanskrit, History, Geography, Civics & Computer Science. Medium of instruction in English with due emphasis on Hindi and Sanskrit
